No, you don't go blind when you're older because of the Lasik or laser eye treatment.
It's a little bit painful, more uncomfortable than anything. The only danger is if the surgery is not performed properly, or if you get infection, you can suffer from it for life.
You should research the websites regarding the surgery as well as opinions (good and bad) of patients who have had it done.

Depends on the laser surgery being undertaken, as they all have risks and contraindications. The most common complaint is problems with night vision, 'rainbows' appearing around objects, or very dry eyes. This only affects a very small number of people.

Laser surgery is not a permanent fix, as the eyes tend to get more long-sighted with age. So you may well find that in your 40s and older that you will need glasses again.

Hi I had done the laser treatment for my eyes coming 4 years and i love it!!! There is no need to squint my eyes to check the clock timing in the morning and i can do all sort of sports without the hassel of glasses sliding down my nose.

You do feel a slight pain when they are lasering your eyes but it will gradually subside the next day. Not to worry too much as anesthetic eyedrop will be applied to your eyes before the ops. Glaring from sun also a problem for the 1st day and redness and dryness of the eyes will also be experience. However, these can all be corrected by using eyedrop and sunglasses.

Have not heard of anyone who gone blind. Think it's old wife's tale. However, it is still wise to choose a reputable doctor and hospital/ eye centre to laser your eyes.

Good luck and hope you will enjoy 'glass-less' vision soon.

I had laser treatment in august this year and its transformed my life, not more glasses, contact lenses or squinting at the tele. its the best use of my money i can thing of. make sure you go to a registered clinic, one which guarantee's the success or they do the surgery again for free. I went to ultralase which was great. a little pain for about 15 seconds and thats it, a bit blurry over night but the next day it was like a miracle, I could see perfectly, better than 20/20 vision. my eyesight was better than when i had my glasses on. GET IT DONE!

LASIK was quite painful as the anaesthetic didn't quite work as it should on me. It's been three years and I would say it was one of the best decisions I'd ever made in my life. It's so amazing to wake up and see the time. And beach combing for seashells minus the squat 'n' squint. Your eyes will be extremely sensitive to light for about 3-6 months and you can't see as well at night but all in all, I'd go through the ordeal all over again if necessary.

Laser eye treatment is safe, and a reliable way of correcting eyesight. As far as I am aware, there are no long-lasting side effects. I don't think it is painful either.

As for (quote) "going blind when you are older"... you really do not need to worry about that... it's not strictly true.

Very good question and the answers as well. We were discussing this in our family at Christmas time, and all the opinions were negative, and full of fear that after 10 years, nothing can be done. and one goes blind. I am now learning more about this and will have more to say on it by or next get together

If you are talking about lasik surgery it is not painful at all. You do not go blind from having it done. when you get older you will need reading glasses like everyone else when they turn 40. Side effects are increased halos around lights a night, dry eyes, and possible need for glasses when driving at night.

The number one side effect is that it makes you look cooler. lol

I had it done in 2001. Totally painless, easy, and worth 10 times what I paid for it. I was corrected to 20/10 vision. Wife calls me "eagle eyes" now.
