Hi, i bought a table lamp off ebay a gothic grim reaper globe style.
My fiancee bought a new bulb for it and its not working, he even checked the fuse and that seems fine, and there is defo electricity going through as he got a shock.
There is a bit that where u put the bulb, its very slack, i don't know if that needs tightened.
I can't send it back to the shop where i got it from (ebay) as u where only getting 2 weeks to return and its passed 2 weeks.
Any advice thanxs

When you buy electrical stuff on eBay or from an second hand store it is best to have it checked out by an qualified electrician, because it can be very dangerous and it might need rewiring. It can cause a fatal shock or a fire.
I think it is best to have it checked by a qualified electrician.

It is difficult to know without actually seeing the lamp. If your fiancee has already got a shock from it then I would suggest getting an electrician to look at it. Either that or contact the person that sold you the lamp and ask for a refund.

Why do people say Plug Socket?

It's either a Plug or a Socket. The Plug fits in the Socket.

You don't say Socket Plug?

I like the idea of the Grim Reaper lamp that gives you an electric shock! Priceless!

You can return it outside of the two week period as it may be their rules but not complaint with the rules of trade in this country. Which states something that is sold must be fit for purpose which it is not if it does notowork.

It does not matter if they are a company outside of the UK as they are trading in this country they are governed by standards of this country send them a message , letter or call them

Get an electrician to take a look at it. If your fiancee got a shock off it, then it's probably got a loose wire or insulation missing and should not be used until you have had someone who is a bit knowledgable to look at it!

Anyone with even minimal experience with electricity can fix it. If your finance got shocked and couldn't fix it then maybe you should find a place where you could have him fixed too.

just kidding take it to a repair shop or find someone who knows a bit about electricity.
