Nelson Rockefeller. He was appointed by Ford. Funny thing is, the only reason he was confirmed by the senate is because Ford guaranteed that Rockefeller wouldn't be his running mate on the next presidential ticket.

It was former Governor of New York Nelson Rockerfeller. The one fact that people overlook or fail to mention , it was the second only Vice- Presidency ever to hold office by appointment.

Nelson Rockefeller was his vice-president until Ford left office. HOWEVER, Robert 'Bob' Dole was his running mate in 1976. They of course lost. Nelson had cancer and could not run for a new term.
