As there is no keypad is it possible to generate a text message still or is it not a facility on the phone?

It does send text messages although it does take a fair amount of practise to do that quickly.
The scroll wheel allows you to scroll through the letters when you go into write text message. It then has a kind of predictive text where it puts the most likely second letter first in the list you scroll through so for example if you selected H it would put AEIOU before the rest of the alphabet as those are more likely to be used.

Hi, sorry this a little vague but if it is anything like my friends Nokia which is a different phone but also doesnt have any buttons, then yes you can. You should be able to select text message on your phone then will have to use the 'joystick/pad' to guide the curor to each letter and press select each time. As i say, im not sure but it sounds like a likely explanation because i doubt they would have made it without a texting function.
