I am mostly sick in the morning and then again at night (I am not getting a lot of sleep because of it). No vomiting, just nausea, stomach pain and lots of dry heaving. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Cut back on large meals and "snack" or "nibble" all day. Make sure you have a lot of Vitamin B (both 6 & 16) through foods or an extra supplement. Also, a clear and caffine free soda worked well for me (sprite, 7 up or something). Also, try keeping something light by your bed like crackers or low sodium pretzels. I had to snack on a few every night during the news in bed to be able to sleep. I also took the pepcid chewable tabs nearly every night for about 2 weeks, those helped a lot during the "worst" time. I was always sick at night too. If it's very serious and none of that helps, call your doctor. They have medications now for morning sickness you can take for a little while to help you get some rest. Good Luck!!

Saltine crackers on the nightstand next to your bed. First thing in the morning, nausea - ahhhh cracker - and then at night, milk, even if it's rice drink (rice dream) to get a good night's sleep.

Dry heaving suggests that you're not getting enough food, (3 full meals, and 2+ snacks throughout the day, and a pack of crackers in your purse everyday.

If this continues too much, get to the ob/gyn's nurse over the phone to discuss your issues.

GOD bless.

Okay, I've had the worst morning sickness! It shouldn't even be called morning sickness - more like 24 hours a day sickness! My record has been throwing up 6 times in one day. Yikes! I tried preggie pops - they really work. You can order them online or get them at your local maternity store. Also, look for bracelets that stimulate the nerve that causes nausea. I have one that actually sends a small electrical pulse through the nerve and so far that has worked the best for me. And it's totally safe to use, I even asked my doctor about it. Good luck!

Quite often, morning sickness is caused by a deficiency of Folic Acid. You should be taking a prenatal vitamin with plenty of Folic Acid. If not, then I suggest you go to your health food store, ask for the most knowledgeable person there, and ask them what they suggest.
A severe deficiency of Folic Acid can cause a Neural Tube defect
which can result in Spina Bifida, and in severe cases Anacephaly.
I don't mean to scare you, but do want to make you aware.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, and good luck to you both.

You can ask your dr for Promethazine (generic for Phenergen).
I had to be on that at night and Zofran during the day for my sickness. I never threw up was severely nauseous 24/7 for 16 weeks straight with my daughter. I ended up loosing alot of weight because of that.

Promethazine is pretty cheap and almost all insurances cover it, but it also knocks you out so you have to take it at night. Zofran is really expensive ($40 per pill unless your insurance covers it).

I keep a baggy of dry Special K cereal next to me at work. It helps lot. Usually you can control the nausea by never letting your stomach get empty.

Low blood sugar can trigger morning sickness. Eat something with a low glycaemic index eg crackers or toast and that should help. I am 22 weeks pregnant and that helped me. Also, eat when you are hungry and eat what you are craving. Another couple of options are ginger tablets, or accupressure "sea bands" to be worn on your wrists. Hope these help

Best suggestions I've herd from various pregnancy books is to have crackers/toast with water/7 up before you get out of bed. Also, don't immediatley wake up stand up right away and start rushing, make sure you take your time standing up and such.

Good luck!

Beyond the crackers and toast, ginger is known for it's anti-nausea properties. There are gummi-bears, hard candies, crystalized ginger, ginger altoids and ginger tea. You might try one or all of those.
