i have a new 6 month old pipe that was attached to my muffler.......but 2 days ago my muffler actually fell off......it appears it could be slightly cut and re-welded on since only the very tip is rusted.....how much would that cost approximately?

Depends on the make of car and how badly the tail pipe / muffler is rusted.

It can possibly welded back on if the metal is not badly rusted.

On more economy common cars it is sometimes cheaper to replace the muffler then to weld it back on. And should last longer since your muffler is already rusted.

Check with several muffler and repair shops and have them look at it. Then compare estimates an the type of work they are quoting.

It's not worth it to patch old exhaust pipes, mufflers and tail pipes. You can probably save the tail pipe you had installed, but the muffler needs to be replaced. The exhaust pipes leading up to the engine are probably ok and won't need to be replaced. Take it back to the same shop and they'll put a new muffler on it for you. The shop that fixed it before shouldn't charge more than $130 assuming they can use the tail pipe they installed before.

If it can be welded and no parts, then it is labor only. Call and ask what they charge by the hour. Should take less than an hour so I would guess 40 to 75 dollars..Good luck.

Should be around $80 to $120 bucks to get a new one and have it put on.
