My husband has recently been cleaning out hidden files on my computer. He found my keylogger software that i took many precautions to hide and he removed it from my computer. Oh, and dont preach to me on why I shouldnt have a secret keylogger on my computer w/o my husbands knowledge. Dont need that advice. (read my other questions, and you'll know why) Can anyone tell me how to find these hidden files or folders? He wont tell me. He said he's alread went through 2000 folders and there are 6 or so more with more files inside those folders. What does that mean and where can it be found on my computer. Thanks

If you are a local administrator, open up Windows Explorer. Open up the TOOLS menu, hit Folder Options, Hit the View tab Check all the boxes at the top that hide files. They are self-descriptive. Make sure you check "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"

Go to Control Panel - Folder Options.
Click on 2nd Tab that says View.
In Advanced settings section, scroll down until you see Hidden files and folders
Will have two options underneath. Click on Show hidden files and folders. Then click OK

Then you should be able to find the files without any problem. If you know a name of a file you can then do just a regular search.

i really dont know how he did it.

But if it is XP and he is an administrator then he can select show hidden files option in Control panal\folder options.

Then all files will become visible.

Or he should have tried Ctrl+A to select all items.

Why not you try to hide your keylogger anywhere away from his sight like in system32 folder in windows or system... { try renaming the keyloggers folder name to some thing that he thinks as the actual windows file. If possible change the folders icon to taskmanagers icon or similar.}

Its easy as h*ll to find hidden folders.
Open a folder (my docs or something),
~Tools
~Folder Options
~View
~choose Show Hidden Folders in the list below

And sorry, Shame on you for spying.

If you choose to forgive and forget, then you need to do just that.
If you cant do that (and not many can) realize the trust is gone and it may be unsalvagable.

If it's your PC then put passwords on it so that he can't use it or at least use them on the administrator.
