The Mk 1 helmet introduced in WW1 was replaced by a Mk II at the beginning of WW2. By 1944 they were on a Mk IV helmet .

The Mark I and II looked almost identical; the Mark IV was deeper and provided better protection.

Yes. Tradition kept it in use into WWII although it was inferior to those of the Germans and Americans.
