I believe that this can be better for you sometimes. The people that are your friends and family know you too well sometimes to give you what you need. They know the responses that you want to hear and not what you need to hear. I know that sometimes a stranger can make me laugh, make me cry, or just make a point hit home, that friends and family couldn't get through to me. Sometimes we build defenses against the people that we love because we feel that they are always trying to make us feel horrible or feel like we are wrong so when a stranger says something it really makes you listen. I mean if people didn't listen to strangers better that they listen to their family and friends how well would this website be doing?

Sometimes it can make you feel better, but it depends on who YOU are and on what the stranger is like. It may be better because you might feel that there's not that forced politeness or nice attitude that a friend has in some cases. And feeling understood and comforted by someone that is not in your circle of relatives & friends may make you feel like you are valuable to the world, because friends & relatives love you unconditionally since they're close to you, while strangers have no reason to.

sometimes it is easier because the stranger is does not judge the other people involved. like if i tell my best friend about a disagreement my husband and i had she will hold that against him for ever. and the next time i tell her something she will go oh yeah remember when he did whatever last week and it is never let go. now don't get me wrong my husband and i very seldom argue and we have been married 18 years the was just an example why i don't tell my or our friends things like that. it is always rememberd and i don't hold gruges. it is better to let things go not that they are forgotten but let go.

Yes cause strangers have that objectivity and anonymous side to them that makes us feel free about opening up knowing we might never see them again. And sometimes , yes sometimes, that stranger seems to have just the right words to comfort us in our moments of despair. It happens a lot to me when I take a cab! Most of the time, they have this cross hanging from the mirror!!!

Yes, that makes your day beautiful. Actually we make that here, on Y!A, we talk to strangers all the time and it is so wonderful when somebody you don't even know helps you and really makes effort to help you.

yeah and strangers aren't afraid to be honest like friends. I've found some strangers usually have better words of comfort and wisdom than any friend could offer.

Sure, there are times like that. Perhaps just the need for a fresh perspective can make that so. No fear of what they will think of you, either. You may never see or speak to them again. That, in itself, is very freeing.
