Are the Japanese racists who have bad relations with neighboring Asian countries?

Hey ya'll,
I'm Chinese and for a long time i've really immersed into my Asian culture and found out a lot of foul history about Asia. Im sorry to whoever might get offended but this is a question I have to ask.
I heard that even now Japanese think theyre the 'superior asian race' and downview us Chinese with Taiwan and Korea. Maybe gaps are closing because of entertainment like Miyavi in Taiwan and Boa in Japan, but are they still racist?

Any Japanese people out there, please answer...what do you think of other Asian races? Is it true you guys just pay out other Asian races on your internet cafes and stuff? Kinda makes me angry cos the Jap kids in my class laugh around dissin Chinese saying things I wont mention here.

And why do people like the samurai? Arent they like Nazis? Cutting off Chinese and peoples noses and killing them?

Maybe im wrong, maybe its only the WHOLE Japanese population at my school..,, Sorry, it just really upsetting how people are all equal yet......

Maybe because the Japanese are superior. China makes bad clothes, Japan makes spaceships that land on Comets. China kills for speaking out against the Government, Japan elects the prime minister.

Maybe when the rest of Asia catches up to Japan, they won't feel so superior, but for some reason, I don't see that happening.

There are racists in every race and culture. I heard that Japanese see the Chinese as inferior because of the conflict they used to have. Japan try to invade China during WWII years and that caused a rift between them. Also, many Asians see the Phillipinos as inferior because they're moslty dark and mixed with Spaniard blood. There is an imaginary hierarchy among whites, Hispanics, blacks, and Asians. I'm Hispanic and I know many Mexicans don't like people from Central America. Just as some Puerto Ricans feel superior to their fellow Hispanics. There is racism everywhere.

The samurai age is long gone. After Japan got nuked, they entered an age of pacifism. The Chinese were also very brutal, pre-war and post-war, mainly thanks to Mao and his followers. Personally I have loads of respect for both Japanese and Chinese but my loyalties will lie with the Japanese.

You won't see it this way since you are loyal to the Chinese people and why shouldn't you be?! China has a brilliant culture. I personally just think Japanese culture is better. That's just me.

There has always been bitterness in the Korean/Chinese/Japanese area. It's not the end of the world.

You could say that the Japanese are very patriotic and that is a good thing. In the West patriotism is seen as bad and wrong and the Left will have us running around and hugging immigrants and destroying our own culture (I'm European). The Japanese don't do this and are still very homogenous. I love that about them, no mixing.

Being an isolationist nation like Japan (and for that matter China) was does tend to breed dislike of other countries and their peoples. Plus the Japanese were brainwashed for a long time into thinking they were superior (much like the Germans in world war 2). This kind of mentality does take time to subside and you may have to be very patient in waiting for the Japanese to treat the Chinese with the respect they deserve. It is disappointing that the Japanese still try to ignore the terrible things they did to the Chinese and others during war time but I have faith that eventually you will all get on better in the long run. (I am not Chinese or Japanese just for the record).

Hi, I am Thomas's wife (so it's not my avatar) but I read your question. I am half Japanese but full-on American. I have my views of Japan as well. After WW2, Japan was to emulate the "American" way so in doing that they needed to have a "pure" Japanese race. Kind of how America was when it came to severe discrimination towards Native Americans, Black, Asian, Latins, Jews. America looked down on everyone who wasn't "White". Japan feels the need to the same in order to be on top, just like America did. Remember the cultural revolution came after the end of WW2 in the sixties and seventies.

Japan, America, Korea, and China have "racists" and racism stems from fear. It is fear that separates people on a very sad and primitive level of being human. Humans are born with dignity so we need to be above that. I personally think East Asia looks down on the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam and other South East Asian countries too and it is rather sad. I think ASIA as a whole needs to accept Asia and help their neighbours out. Instead of stepping on others to be with the "in" crowd.

Don't you think? Instead of pointing fingers and feeling complexed I think Asia (especially Japan) should help their neighbours out and respect them.

Korean and Chinese actors and singers are GODS and GODDESSES in Japan so from that you can see that change is apparent and respect for other Asian neighbours are in effect.

Ignore or let your class mates "know" that racist jokes aren't funny. Keep your head up bro. and keep shinning as YOU. If you call them out about their behaviour remember to keep cool. Always maintain respect.

It's an individual choice to be afraid of change and it's according responsibility, ultimately it's you who represents you!
