President Bush could declare a National Day of Mourning and most likely will. President Ford is entitled to a full State Funeral, lying in State in the Capitol Rotunda etc etc. The Ford family just has not announced their plans as of yet, but here is a little bit of inside TRUE info. One of the first things a President has to do after taking the oath is to spell out in detail his OWN FUNERAL plans...Nice Job Huh? Congratulations Mr. President, now how do you want to be buried?

Federal employees, banks and state offices usually are CLOSED on the day of his funeral, final resting day.I don't know what day though ,I am guessing Jan. 2nd ,next Tuesday.
I asked a similar question ,but as far as a Holiday,it will be observed nationally with Federal employees being off ,just as Nixon and Reagan's funeral were.

It has been declared a "National Day of Mourning". The declaration means that federal offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 2, 2007.

Typically the stock markets are also closed during this day of mourning, but since the market is closed sat - monday, and there is a rule that the stock market cannot be closed on 4 consecutive days, I bet that the stockmarkets will have a 1/2 day and not a full day off.

Holiday?

Hardly. We don't refer to the passing of one of our leaders as a reason to have a holiday.

There probably will be a national day of mourning. As it should be.
