Operation paper Clip was a program that US government created to bring scientists, researchers to the United States to aid in the development of new technologies. I might add after seeing the files they did not specifically target those with military expertise but ANY science or research that may have been useful to US science or industry. Contrary to popular myth it did not target bringing ex-Nazis into the USA with phony pass ports, etc.
These records are declassified and available to the general public for viewing at the National Archives facility at College Park, MD.

German scientists, unlike, say, concentration camp commandant, were seen as valuable assets by the Allies, therefore, there was a mad scramble at the end of and immediately after the war to bring them to the US, UK, and USSR. A race developed as the western countries, especially the US, sought to keep the Soviets from acquiring these men and their expertise. Everyone knew that there would be conflict between the East and West, and wanted to be prepared.
Many other not-so-valuable members of the Nazi apparatus fled to countries with sympathetic fascist governments, most notably Argentina, which today still has a fairly sizable German-speaking population, and ironically, one of the largest Jewish communities in Latin America.

you're making it look like the individuals have been the only usa in Europe in the time of the suited days of the conflict. The French, Russians, individuals and specific - the British all had communities scouring the climate earlier occupied via the Germans finding for persons and place of work work on something that they deemed sensible (even no longer sensible, just to maintain it from the different international locations.) word had unfold between the intelligentsia of Nazi Germany that the Allies could "paintings" with them, perhaps turning a blind eye to what that they had executed in the previous in the event that they could paintings for a clean grasp now. Russia provided torture to receive tips observed via a Gulag or a bullet in the event that they have been fortunate. Britain and usa shared (for the main area - they have been nonetheless pissed approximately extremely) despite that they had between the two international locations. Britain's crippling conflict debt precluded any area aspirations for the close to destiny. Why no longer enable the Yanks shoulder the workload (and huge value) as long as we ought to realize the constructive factors?

Have you seen the movie I.Q? In it Walter Mathau plays Albert Einestein, Meg Ryan's uncle. All his friends are old men like Planck, Oppenheimer and another.
So they were German or Austrian scientists. The U.S. and the Russian soldiers had express orders to first get the scientists out. Thats how they were able to make the atom bomb and Russia became a super power.

Most leaders of European countires after WWII weren't concerned with people such as the scientists/doctors; they wanted to see the political leaders on trial, not the scientists. However, a lot of them were hunted down, including the most well-known, Doctore Mengele (the "Angel of Death"). He was probably the most ruthless out of all the doctors.

Don't worry about it! They helped us win the cold war with the Soviets and they created the USA's space program. We got a good deal. Believe me.
Remember history is written by the winners. Most of what you have learned is post-ww2 propaganda.

Many came to the U.S. and England, often because they were promised immunity from war crime prosecution. Some came to work on the Manhatten Project, and others in the space program (ever wonder why our initial rockets looked like V2's?--Werner Von Braun, who created them, was in charge of our development programs).

Most were taken in by the US. I think quite a few were completely "pardoned" if they ever apologized at all.
