i don't see the bread, but usually a long cigarette and beatnik (sp?) type clothing, lol. I guess just too many bad 1970's movies, lol. Although I DO know better than that of course, knowing french people, but if you asked me to imagine them that's what comes to mind.

You seem to have an misunderstanding about the French, that is an old fashioned picture you paint of the French i do believe they are more sophisticated than that now I'm sure.

Hollywood....it's the same reason Europeans think Americans are all loud, eat hamburgers and wear baseball caps.
When I lived in Europe, Europeans were shocked to find an American who understood different kinds of food, loved football (soccer), and appreciated different cultures.
So, the lack of understanding is all over.
