Name For A Straw Hat

This would depend entirely on the shape of the hat. For example, a circular, flat-topped straw hat with a flat brim is a Boater, a wider and shaped-brimmed oval straw hat with a valley in the top is called a Panama and a very wide, bell-topped hat with curled-up brim is a Sombrero. Many hats are made of straw, please elaborate on your question to help us answer.

The flat ones for boating in are called - boaters. The softer, wider brimmed ones with a dent in the crown are called Panamas (my husband has one he bought in Seville - looks great and keeps the sun off) The Mexicans have even bigger straw hats called Sombreros (to sleep under) and Chinese traditional conical straw hats are no doubt called something else. Dunno what though.
