That's a statement that can be argued by all baseball fans but in terms of the most championships theres no denying that the Yankees are the all time best team in MLB history and in Sport history as well. No one comes close to the 26 World Series Championships that the franchise has won. The Yankees have been blessed with many great players in their history but so too have the other franchises in the history of the sport. Let's remember that some of the greatest pitchers of all time were NOT NY Yankees. Gibson, Koufax, Feller, Ryan, etc etc. That also holds true for the greatest offensive players as well.

I don't think you can say the Yankees are the best team ever. They have the best history of any franchise, but all of those champoinships were won by different teams, different players, different coaches/managers. Are they the best franchise in MLB history? The 26 championships say yes (and I'm not a Yanks fan), but if you're going to pick the best team, you would have to look at one core group that had success, like the Babe Ruth era team, or Mantle/Berra era, something like that, because although Babe and Mickey played for the same organization and wore the same uniform, they certainly didn't play on the same team.

There have been many great Yankee teams. And there have been many, many great players.
Babe Ruth
Lou Gehrig
Yogi Berra
Bill Dickey
Joe Dimaggio
Mickey Mantle
Whitey Ford
the list goes on and on.
The Yankees have more hall-of-famers than any other team.
By the way, I'm not a Yankee fan.

They have a rediculously high payroll for one. They are also one of the first teams to enter the AL. As far as WS championships, they are best, but you also have to factor in other things. Without the highest payroll in baseball, the Yankees obviously wouldn't do as well. If they didn't spend more than twice what most teams spend, they wouldn't do as well. The Cardinals must be second best in regards to wins, even though their payroll is half of the Yankees payroll.

Well in my opinion the Yankees are the best team ever because of the magic and aura that the interlocking NY give the players. They have had great players pass through the Yankees. The Yanks usually bring out the best or worst in a player. If you get the best brought out, you stay. If you get the worst brought, you go. And thats a fact

Because they have won 26 World Series Championships, have the most players in the hall of fame, won 39 A.L. Pennants, have an all star team, have the biggest payroll and can call legends like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Don Mattingly, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, etc. on of their own. Also, they have the most retired numbers of any team. Also, their fan support is second to none.

Yes, I will admit they are technically the best team ever.
They have 26 World Series Wins and a team full of All-Stars.
But this is the 2000 Era, they only one the Ring once. Back in the 1900's they did good, bur 2000 is a whole new/different century.

Babe Ruth. Started the World Series winnings (26). brought in spectators who payed for a better yankee team with ticket costs. Its general knowledge that the Yankees were made the superstar team that they are, and earnt all their money when they got the great Bambino. It escalates like any business (franchise). good investments in players and you get yourself all the championships you like.

I think it has a lot to do with how they have the highest payroll. They are the best because they have the most money to buy the best players. This goes with the argument to put a cap on team's payrolls so it's a little bit more of a level playing field.

26 World Championship Seasons say it all.
But how many have they been in and lost?
How many times have they Won their Division and never made it to the WS,if you add all those up They've probably have more playoff appearances than any other team by a large margin. Thats why all the teams in the ML's want that sucess, they are the storied franchise
