I was 9 weeks pregnant when I was diagnosed with full blown diabetes. I am now 13 weeks pregnant. Since I found out, I've been on a strict diet of 2,400 calories. I always eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and always feel full afterwards. I just have to completely cut out sugars...low on carbs, but not low enough to be a "low-carb" diet. I'VE LOST 4 POUNDS. I'm lower now than I was when I got pregnant. Baby looks great, I feel great...is this a normal thing for someone in my circumstance? Have you lost weight before you gained?

I also lost weight during my last (I've had 4 healthy children!) pregnancy...almost 20 lbs total...I weighed LESS after I got pregnant..the baby is gaining the weight~it's normal...with two of my pregnancies...I had developed diabetes...failed the glucose tests every time! but it went away AFTER I had them...I'd be more concerned if I GAINED alot of weight during that time...with my FIRST SON..(second pregnacy) I gained almost 80 lbs...

A lot of pregnant women do loose weight especially in the beginning of their pregnancy because of having morning sickness. I did loose 6 lbs in the first 2 months of my pregnancy because I was throwing up all of the time.
My circumstance was totally different then yours of course. I am sorry that you have diabetes and especially now with being pregnant it makes it much more difficult. I am sure that your loosing weight because of the diet that your on. Though, we are suppose to have a calorie intake of 2000 a day and you are having an additional 500 and that is what your suppose to have when pregnant anywhere from 2300-3000 calories .I did gain all of my weight back that I lost and then some . Trust me you will gain your weight back and more. I am sure when you go back to the Dr. you will get weighted and he will tell you if the loss of weight concerns him or not. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope that all turns out . Good luck to you .

I lost a ton of weight during the first 2 trimesters of my pregnancy (about 27 lbs) and I gained 6 back in my 3rd trimester. My doctor said if you change your eating habits for the better, you are bound to lose weight, and it won't effect the baby unless you aren't eating. You are still getting plenty of calories a day for you and baby, it's just healthier calories with a whole lot less junk. It's fine! If baby looks fine, don't worry! Stay healthy and eat exactly as you are! Good Luck!!

I wasn't diabetic, but I've been there!

Many women develop "gestational diabetes" when they are pregnant and then return to normal after the birth of their baby. I wouldn't worry about losing weight while you are pregnant. Just eat the way the doctor has advised and exercise - walk or swim. Those activities are both safe for the baby. Eat healthy foods. Stay away from junk foods and fast food places. Yes, it is normal to lose weight at first during a pregnancy even if you are not diabetic. Many women have morning sickness so bad they can't eat. Have a happy , safe pregnancy!

Hey, as long as you and baby are healthy everything is alright. 13 weeks is still fairly early. And I don't know your build (which plays a role in how much weight gain is suggested) but for a large part of my pregnancy (the first part) I rarely consumed anywhere close to 2,400 calories per day and I lost weight. What is most important is that you're taking your prenatal vitamins and getting plenty of fluids. And if you're excersizing I'd say keep that up too. Good circulation is good for baby. But if you aren't, don't start until you've begun to gain. You're baby is growing and needs some fat for those little bones and to protect those little organs, but they don't start storing it and getting those cushy baby features til later in pregnancy. But, if weight loss continues discuss these concerns with your OB/Midwife/Dr

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and have a lost a bit of weight during pregnancy...with morning sickness (had it up until 6 months), kidney infection and now i am loaded with the cold.

Altogether i have lost a full stone (14lbs) and gained 5lbs. Although i do have a baby bump and my baby is growing well.

As long as your baby is growing well that is all that matters.

I had gestational diabetes with my first, and sweetness 2 diabetes with my 2d toddler. I accompanied a strict nutrition plan with the two, and the two have been born healthful. i myself did no longer comprehend how lots weight I had lost till after the toddlers have been born. You benefit fluid and toddler weight etc that replaces the bodyweight you're unquestionably dropping. i replaced into 20 pounds lighter with my first born, and 40 pounds lighter with my 2d born. in the adventure that your OB hasnt reported it, ask to work out a dietician. A registered dietician will make certain which you have become adequate calcium, protein, and supplementations on your nutrition plan to help a healthful being pregnant. right this is wishing you a chuffed healthful 9 months :-)

I lost weight at the beginning of my pregnancy; guess it was due to eating healthier and exercising more. Overall, I gained five pounds throughout the pregnancy, because I was overweight to start with - totally under dr. supervision and with a nutritionist.
