keeping in mind that probably only humans were programmed (by a hypothetical creator) to percieve the smell of decomposition as repulsive , while to a lot of other creatures the smell of a rotting body is attractive and means survival .

i no one could simply answer (thats just the way we are) , i dont want a SCIENTIFIC answer , or i wouldn't have posted the question in PHILOSOPHY section .
it's just that i was watching a movie , where a rotting cadaver wa shown , i then thought on how the SMELL of decay would really add to the experience, which led me to wonder ,is there a PURPOSE for us to percieve dead bodies as bad? if there is , why are there THOUSANDS of poisons that are more seriously life-threatening , that are undetectable and indeed sometimes agreeable to our senses?
if the religious idea of there being a heaven after death is true , wouldn't a nice smell coming out of people when they die agree more with the idea of a post-humous liesurely existence? or is it to show us that the flesh is only a vile part of our persons ?

"i want" means "i need" "im looking for"
anyone who posts a question "wants" an answer , and that "answer" is rated depending on how much it SATISFIES the asker . what has that got to do with this being a public space?

An alligator will wail for it's kill to begin to decay before it will eat it.
Interesting.

How can the digestive system of say a vulture, tolerate decay when our system will make us sick or even kill us?

Sorry no aswer, just more of the same Q.

I have to "bite" my tongue in that you state what you DON'T want here as answers. Surely you realize this is a PUBLIC place.

Now, With all due respect, the idea you propose has less to do with the actual, and more to do with the metaphorical.

"SMELLS BAD" in this context happens to be analogous.

Certainly the decaying body causes that sense to feel revulsion, but it's the metaphor even in a generaly used way, that is the real message.

Honestly, everything that is susceptible to the bacteria that smell to us (and animals that are not vultures and the like) are repulsed by the smell. It keeps us alive and away from what will kill us.
Psychologically, it can only make our fear of death worse.

Actually, most animals won't even go near a dead body. And not all humans think of rot and decay as a horrid smell.
