If this is true I don't know what the connection would be or the time scale (minutes vs years). I haven't seen it in the funeral business.

Of course... if you stretch the amount of time during which the three deaths should occur, you will ultimately be bound to get three. Of course, there is a chance that a very inconvenient fourth may also come along - at which point you can disallow one of the earlier ones as not really being related to this particular trio of death, or simply count it as the start of a new trio.
And ultimately, come the end of time... I predict there is a 33.3% chance that all death through all time will be able to be divided neatly in to three (100% if we take the step that there might be one or two people we really don't want to include in the final totals).

Not really, it just seems that because it is a well accepted urban legend. It is just that we have become conditioned to stopping at three and starting over again. Most everyone in the world knew who President Ford was, not everyone knew who James Brown was. So they would not count him. Some children on here do not know who President Ford was so he is not counted. But if two more entertainers die, they will say they died in threes.

I say yes. I live in Kentucky, and I have a very odd family, they are mixed races so to speak, Creek indian, Cherokee ,and Hungarian, German, and Irish ,and Scottish, we have alotof folk lore and things we believe in ,cuase it all happens to us. Every time one person dies two will follow ,if a flower blooms out of season some one dies, if a bird flys into your home someone will die you know, and if a bird flys to your window and flutters there, it is warning you of trouble. If you drop a dish rag or a red bird visits your yard you may have company,If you dream of death, then a birth will happen, if you dream of a bith a death is to come, if you dream of muddy or murky waters there will be a death, if you dream of a wedding a death is to come, and if you dream of a funeral a wedding to to come. Don't step over a fallen broom or it is bad luck, when returning home, take your broom and sweep evil out your door you entered. White candles and virgin olive oil is a friend who needs a blessed home, have three people from a church to say a blessing over the oil, and mark you window sills with a cross repeating bless my home ,and light white candles to purify. And if you ever see a movement out of the corner of your eye and you are all alone ,it is said it is a angel watch over you.My mother is a christian but before she joined the church ,she was what people called a kitchen witch. Or a medicine woman.

I have never heard the "rules" regarding people dying in 3's. I just know many things people notice in a hospital seem to occur in 3's or multiple of 3's. My guess is we just don't track things close enough to realize this is not a true belief.

That's news to me. They say things happen in 3s.
Might be why 3 symbolizes the Godhead.
Putting my fantastic brain to work. HUMOR ME A LITTLE!
I wondered if "God" might really be in the center
of things. Put a dot on a piece of paper, and draw a
circle around it. If power flowed from the center
outward, wouldn't it take on the pyramid or
triangle shape?

I think there is an old wives tale about things happening in 3's, usually the things that are happening in 3's are unpleasant. I have not heard of people dying in groups of three, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I can attest to this one, several times over! I lost my grandfather,(mother's father), my uncle, (mother's oldest brother), and my mother within a 3 month span. Now it is happening again! My brother-in-law passed the week before Thanksgiving. My mother's middle brother died Christmas Eve, and I am worried sick which loved one will be next. This is a hell you cannot imagine, since all of these deaths are family members, dying within relatively short periods of time. Yes, it is absolutely true!
