Pathan did not bowl well in whichever matches played by him. Hence team management did not want to play him in the tests as they felt that other better bowlers are available. Team management sincerely want Pathan to regain his form as he is in the scheme of things for the World Cup. The selectors and team management felt that instead of idling at South Africa he should play Ranji Trophy Matches and try to regain his form.
The decision to send back Pathan is under no circumstance any injustrice done to him, but was made to give him oportunity to regain his bowling form.

Yes, it is right dicision to replace Pathan with another bowler. Because he has a series of failure from last 3 series. He has to think himself where he is failing and has to strengthen that weak point.
He has to build confidence by playing desi crickets.
But we really want him back into INDIAN TEAM AS AN ALROUNDER.
I WISH HIM BEST OF LUCK

yes you are right. Pathan should be given a chance in the second test. But it would be better for his career if he contacts Wasim Akram and come back in February with lots of confidence.

if it is possible to replace Zaheer Khan and Sourav Ganguly when they were not performing up to the mark, whay can't the same logic be applied to Pathan or Sehwag !

what really transpired, we may never know !!
if the real reason is to get his bowling form for the world cup, and miss the two tests in south africa , even though he has proven himself with the bat on this tour ,scoring a century when specialist batsmen failed in the same warm up matches, then it could be acceptable........
an allrounder means he will always contribute to the team with his bowling OR batting......
