CDs and DVDs do not need a driver in Windows 2000. They are automatically detects as IDE devices. So you will not find a driver for them. I am assuming that the drive is powering up (you can open the door on it) and that it is assigned a letter (D drive or whatever). If that is true, then Windows is seeing the device and loading the build in drivers. If it is not reading any CDs, then odds are the Read Head in the drive itself is bad. Replace the drive.

If the door is not opening, checking the power cable

If the CD drive is not being assigned a letter, you may have to go into Device Manager and uninstall the CD drive, reboot, and hope that Windows redetects the drive.

But Windows 2000 does not need a driver to see CD and DVD drives. It does it automatically.

There is no driver online for CD readors not working, the problem is that your CD rom is not working.

Windows doesn't use separate drivers for CD or DVD drives. It only uses one driver and you can't (shouldn't) update it.

If you're having problems reading disks, it might be a bad drive, or bad disks.
