try this way
go to
start-->run-->
and type
shutdown -s
and press enter
you system ll shutdown in a timeout of 30sec

reason for the problem.....................
1. your computer might have virus which is blocking it do.
2. try to update your operating sytem.
3. some softwares cause this problem ( check that you have not installed any new unknown softwares ).

try this for fun! go into DOS run command and type this cd\ then enter then type logoff then enter then go into safe mode and do chkdsk the boot record is messed up some how..

there must be some problem with ur motherboard or u can even try formating ur computer but if u format u will lose all the files that r there in ur computer..........

try to system restored your computer... click start-program-accesories-system tools-system restore... maybe the system confeguration in your computer change...try it...
