I installed windows vista and when it finshed I booted up and it had not installed my computer video card that is intel. It is using some generic video card that is VGA. So I went to BIOS and tried to disable that card...if I could. So I saw something that said something about disabling video cards. So I did. I had disabled the card and then I rebooted the computer. but after that THERE WAS A BLANK SCREEN ON MY COMPUTER! I dont know how to reenable the video card if I cant get into BIOS without seeing what I am doing since I cant see anything but a blank scree.

Can you please tell me a way..I had taken out the battery on the motherboard and that did not help.

You disabled the video, so of course you got a blank screen. The screen is your video.

The only way to get it back is to wipe out the changes you made to your BIOS. You'll have to check in your computer manual about how to reset or clear your BIOS. It's different for every PC.

Find a friend who has an "add on" video card - not build into the motherboard - and borrow it. Put it into your computer and boot up the machine. You should be able to get into BIOS and turn your video card back on.

Then go to the web site of the manufacturer of the system board (or video card) and see if they have a Vista driver for the card. Your PC is using "VGA" because there is no driver installed for the cards.

That is the default driver that Windows uses when there is no driver present. Anytime you see that, rather than uninstalling the card, you need to install the driver. (But I bet you already figured that out).

Good luck....

no longer each and every BIOS is an identical. They make extreme adjustments in navigation now and lower back, basically between revisions of a similar BIOS. you probably did no longer grant any particular tips about what sort and version BIOS you have, or perhaps the make and kind of your workstation so me or somebody else ought to locate out. So, bounce into your bios, and seek for the placing that pertains to which video is accessed at initiate up. This placing takes many many distinctive types, yet is oftentimes present in "more advantageous chipset settings" in case you have that selection. having reported that, it must be everywhere.

Unplug the computer and pull out the little backup battery on the motherboard for a few minutes. That should reset the bios to default.
