I'm not asking if smoking pot is for everyone, I KNOW it's not. But, for me, smoking pot makes me appreciate life more. For instance (and these are 100% from my own experience, and not made up), music sounds incredibly better, like I can digest it in portions as i'm listening to it, I am more creative, I can come up with lyrics as well as tunes on the keyboard and guitar that otherwise i feel pretty stumped on, I tend to enjoy people more, food tastes like a whole experience in itself, i laugh a ton (and i'm not really a laugher) which relieves a ton of stress, and most importantly, I immediately see the bigger picture with things.

So my question is, if smoking pot (FOR ME) makes me enjoy life more, and saying I don't hurt anyone in the process (which i never have and don't really see how that could ever happen since I mellow out beyond all comparison when i'm stoned)is it still wrong?

the7th..... "There is a down side. You do have to do more to get the same effect so its a downward spiral. Whats so great about being mellow? "

Umm.. I completely disagree.. I have smoked pot for a long time and I still get stoned off of the same little bowl.. Does anyone have a comment on that?

Also, stoned or not, I would love it if everybody in the world were more mellow. Just take a second and imagine a bad situation with two very mellow people. It would be perfectly okay and they would probably laugh about it.

Well, as others have said, it is a considerable expense.

You might want to consider cutting back a bit and opting for quality over quantitiy. In time, you WILL develop a tolerance, even though you think otherwise, and the weed will not produce the same intensity of pleasure.

Plus, the weed then becomes a necessary "crutch" for you to fully enjoy life. It's ok, just like an occasional bottle of fine wine or expensive spirits, but on a totally regular basis, no.

And, it will take its toll on your respiratory system, trust me on that.

I'm guessing your're young, and we all think we're invincible and will live forever at that age.

My suggestion ~ cut back a bit.

Pot is a plant that grows in the ground... a weed actually. It's natural, it's healthier than smoking tobacco with all the additives and poison they put in it today to make us more addicted. People drink alcohol all the time to better enjoy life and other people, so I don't really see how one could be bad and the other acceptable.
I personally think it's fine, as long as it doesn't interfere with your work, or making a living, or everyday things, like getting your stuff done around the house. If you need to wake up and smoke right away, if you can't be in a place without having a smoke, if you have to be stoned all day, then it's mentally addictive to you and you should give it up or control it more.
Kind of like alcoholism. On the weekend, chilling out, etc it's okay but if you do it all day every day you're damaging your system, and your productivity.
Of course, you could just make butter and cook with it or use a vaporizer. Then you don't get the harmful smoke byproduct effects.
Smoking too much does have harmful effects on your body, just like overindulgence in anything at all... alcohol, refined sugar, tobacco, additives, greasy fatty foods with no nutritional value... even poisons in the air.

It was only banned anyway because some influencing guy back in the day decided that it was bad and made up all kinds of lies about the kinds of people who smoke it and what it does to their bodies. Have you ever watched Reefer Madness? A hilarious piece of propaganda from the 30's about the 'effects' of having a toke.

I personally don't have a problem with any one smoking pot as I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing... depending on when and where you are doing it. For instance, if you are at work or school, it does impair your judgement. As you say, it makes you mellow out - which would be a very bad thing if you are driving and automobile.

Perhaps you should think about bringing the experiences you have while you are stoned into your sober life as well. You can enjoy life just as much - just might take a little practice.

Oh - and just like any other drug, including alcohol - it does kill brain cells. Just ask some one who is now 60 that smoked pot for years and years...

oh boy where do i start. How bout the negatives. Low sperm count, bad short term memory, lack of motivation, paranoia, definitely messes up your lungs, your money gets spent on munchies an weed and thats about the worst of it.Even if someone gets to the burned out vegetable stage of being a stoner its still much less worse than being any other kind of addict. A stoner is only going to sit on a couch an watch tv an just be chillin.Any other kind of addicts create all kinds of problems.Crack, meth, coke,an heroin all lead to druggies robbing, killing, fighting, poverty , and gangs.Alcohol gets people in fights, ruins families, causes vomiting, makes people loud an obnoxiuos, and causes drunk driving fataliies everyday.Meanwhile stoners are just chillin inside mindin their businesss playin video games an eatin cheetos. Stoners dont have to mug old ladies or rob liquor stores or sell their furniture to get their fix.And pot won't impair an experienced smokers driving any worse than drinking or being tired. If you don't believe me just hop on the freeway an keep a look out an you'll see somebody blazin an drivin. You could ask a police officer even.A drunk, crackhead,or other kind of druggie being stopped by cops just might fight, run, or do any of a numbers of stupid things whereas a stoner is gonna tremble in fear of the police and at worst hide their weed somewhere. The only reason its not legal is because its not controlled so the govt. can't tax it an take their cut and so the courts can fine people for it.So is it wrong????
Hell NO. Whats wrong is that a drink that kills people everyday is socially accepted while a plant that hardly harms anyone gets put in the same category as evil society deteriorating drugs like meth an crack. So if it makes you happy then do it. There will be consequences but at least you wont be messing up someone else's life.

It is an illusion that is why it looks all better and bigger. Trouble with pot is that it costs money you could put to better uses in your life. Normally the great experiences I had when high were a bit silly when I came down. It wrecks your body and often you probably like yourself you are a slave to the substance. In effect you are fooling yourself.

I know I smoked it for years but quit realised the experiences were not so much real and I could with my own imagination be just as creative when not high. I quit over a year ago and frankly when you look at weed outside the box you have much more realistic view of everything.

If you weighed it all up pot causes more misery than good. It is not just yourself but others around you who are affected by your smoking. It took me 8 years to realise that.

Most stoners only think about themselves and how they feel but it becomes a slavery to a substance which dictates you how to think and feel. Very often you cannot say "I'll go without pot this time.", "I will have some next week.", "Thanks but no thanks." You have little personal control on when you decide to take it and not as it is an addictive substance a little bit chemically addictive but a lot psychologically addictive.

Hey go ahead smoke some more if it makes you feel happy. I smoke it too and if I like something, I'm gonna do it no matter what. But yeh as a fellow smoker one advice: don't start smoking too much as that will tend to lose the charm of smoking.

Well no one would use a drug if it didn’t make them feel better!

You hurt yourself, and if you keep smoking pot you will probably get addicted and then you will start hurting people, as the addiction become the important part of your life and not the people around you. It is as simple as that.

The morning news recently reported story about a guy who was a pot dealer. Someone robbed him in his home so he called the police to report the robbery. The police responded with drug dogs and found more pot. He was arrested for possesion and sales. Pot damages your brain, dude. You don't notice it but believe me the rest of us do. Please stop or at least cut down.

Have you listened to your creations when you're not high? I have heard people say that it helps them to focus. Well, what it is doing is limiting your ability to think of more than one thing at a time, making you less attentive and less intelligent. Have you ever noticed how happy people are that are mentally retarded? They have no stress. This is how you appear to those who are not self medicated.
