laptop,destop,security and connection, Helppppp please?

Question

:I have this emachines destop and i have a new laptop(for my son) I installed D-link router on desktop and i use Belkin wireless G USB network adapter (on laptop) . We are able to use it for almost 30 minutes and then we get discconected, I check DSL modem (speedstream 4100 ) from at & t and disconnect everything on modem and wait then connect again. Same thing for the last 2 weeks. Also on laptop says that I am on an UNSECURED network and other maybe able to see what I do. I see 3 nick names from someone ( I don't know from where or who),but there is a small yellow lock on the nick (secure network) How can I do it on mine?( Have a secure and safe use on laptop?) I like to share but not my onfo or every keystroke we do. Your help will be apreciated. Have a nice 2007

You have two issues that both need to be corrected b4 connecting to the internet.
1) ATT's network disconnected the DSL modem when it found it wasnt configured correctly. You need to get on the phone with DSL tech support to configure the modem. Factory default is DHCP, but you need PPPOE with username and password for the Speedstream to connect correctly.
2) the router needs to be setup up with wireless password security. Instructions can be found on Dlink's website with the model number.
Explanation: The router should assign the IP address, protecting all users behind a hardware firewall. Right now, DSL modem and router are both setup to assign IP. Since they can't resolve the conflict, you are shut down.

secure your network click on start all programs accessories .command promt tyep in
ipconfig . hit on the enter key now see the default gateway numbers open your internet explorer .remove everything from the webaddress bar at the top then type in the default gateway like this

then hit go your come into your router settings from there get onto the wireless icon not the router icon then set up network name and
wep or wpa security key then at the bottom click on .Apply
then on the laptop put in that network name and key and click on connect . if you can do this is it best if you call you *ISP* for help

Sir you can used both 2 computer with out router.... u share the internet connetion using cable connection. check your loptop and Desktop if both have LAN CARD... if yes buy cable connection using peer to peer connection... its hard to connect the computer if it is more Integence device like router and Belkin wireless... email me for your question about the networking may be i can give a lot of choice to make it...
