Hi there:

There are dozens of websites with so-called " FREE" games
and applications, and it is a real pain to sort out the REAL ones from the fake ones - fake, as in, you can download the game, BUT,
in order to play it, you HAVE TO go on the WEB ( $$$$ ) and download advertisements, or sign up to some service, or get a membership, or some " catch ". Some games and applications are just demonstrations, with partial features only. Many of the FREE applications and games do NOT tell you that they are DEMOs or AD-Infested, until after you open them, so you have to try them all first...

The best website to immediately get a few fairly good games that I have tested is mobilerated.com at

http://www.mobilerated.com/dir/Applications/?sort=Rating

which has some really neat applications with instructions and ratings. Try G3Tetris, BOMBS, Sinfahs Lair to see typical ok games.

You can use a program called Send-to-Phone to take xxx.JAR files downloaded on your computer, and SEND them free to your phone.

It is free after registering with:

www.mobilatory.com

so that for a tiny DATA transfere fee with WAP enabled on your cell, you can get the JAR files to any phone without Bluetooth, Infrared, or USB cables and connections. There are excellent instructions and tutorials on the web as well.

Note that some games and applications state " tested on Nokia xxx only " or whatever, but I find that games that ARE NOT supposed to work on some other cell phones, actually do, if you can figure out strange button placements, such as 0 for menu, and # for ENTER, etc. Again, you almost have to try each one to see what it really does, sometimes they are just awful, sometimes they are ads, or crippled DEMOs, and sometimes they are really great...

Try a few free games at this link:

www.GAMEMOBILE.CO.UK

You must register, and then respond to an email, but there are
some good games here, as well as hundreds that you can purchase.

noting that a few are demos, and a few state " only for XXX model" but they will actually work on most cells anyway - you have to experiment to find the correct button sequences...
TRONIX is awesome, and despite its " simple" appearance, is amazingly addictive and clever. Space Invaders is exactly what you would remember from Atari and similar TV games. M Sudoku is well done, an on my phones I have to use the joystick command setup, since the other buttons do not function correctly. Once set up with proper controls, the game is identical to $19.99 handheld games in stores, if not better. Freddy Cat is a bit strange in its movement, but clever enough - hey its free - what else can I say? DOOM and DUUM on one website are a bit slow, and a bit simplistic, with difficult controls. If you have lots of memory and like the style, try them and erase them if you are bored... If you search the web with DOGPILE.COM, using FREE CELL GAMES, you will find bits and pieces of free software all over the place, maybe one at a time, but the overall collection really starts to add up.

Here is another site:

www.webjar.com

but beware that a lot of these have AD downloads, or are trials, or have all sorts of stipulations, so you have to test them one at a time... I have not compiled a complete list yet. There is BLACK METAL, and a really neat, free, supported COMPASS, that, given where you are ( typical input would be near LAX airport ), if you align the moon and sun, it shows you NORTH, and a Spanish, Spanish to English dictionary.
Also out there is a Benchmark tool for Cell phones called FPC_MIDP2.jar that you will have to dogpile search, KSSWARE Easy phone number generator at

Home page: http://www.kssware.net/easynumber.html

Universal SIM unlockers, password protectors, file encryptors, 2000 free ringtones, things like the free PlatoDVD33GP_SE.exe converters, multisim515.exe SIM scanner, etc. etc. but I downloaded these without keeping the web links ( sorry ) - you will have to dogpile them, but they are easy to find.

There are thousands of similar apps and games out there, and more each day... I will start to keep better test data, and web links in the future...

Watch out for FREE ads like " GAMETAP.COM" which is "free" for a year membership garbage... again, you have to go to and try each site to find out what is really involved...

You can try places like:

thefreesite.com

but be aware that " FREE " is often just a ploy for ad infestation and trials and memberships, although there are actually a few gems in there if you persevere. I have not tested this site well...

There are enough valid links above to get you started, but the Free web to cell situation is growing rapidly and every week there is new information and features, so keep searching!!

Have fun
