Paper, tissue or any other kind, is usually made using harsh chemicals, including bleach. Trace residues of these chemicals are in paper, so it's really not wise to ingest it.
Is she truly doing it as a weight loss technique? The only healthy weight loss strategies are lots of exercise and eating a healthy diet. Plus, there may be diet pills she can take, but it's best to have one prescribed by a doctor so that he/she can assess your friend's individual needs.

That my friend is an eating disorder. Not many people now about it but it is. It actually came on the tyra banks show.
well anyway eating disorders are a serious problem they are not just about eating or looking "good" , it is a complex condition, involving psychological, neurobiological, physiological and sociological components
you should talk to her family and let them know that she has this eating disorder and let them get help for her. No matter what you say she won't listen her logic isn't the same as what you see.
she also need to get to the hospital because depending on how long she's been doing it, she could be in a lot of danger caue you can't digest paper

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

This sounds really odd. How tasty can tissue paper be anyhow?
If she is eating it in great quantities there is the risk of dye poisoning.

She risks major digestive clottage due to the fibrous content of the tissue paper...and if she can't rid herself of toxins, she will die, end of story.
PS: This has GOT to be the weirdest question I've answered in the last week.

If she has that capacity she will digest them. And of course they will be thrown out of the body. But if she won’t digest them, anything can happen. I mean anything! There are possibilities that she may undergo an operation. If she is showing some bad symptoms then you should stop her from that weird act.
Ok, tell me one thing, is she really consuming tissue papers?

I have never heard of that.
I do remember hearing about the Supermodel that dipped cotton balls in lemon juice and swallowed them, thinking she would lose weight. I also remember her becoming very sick and having to have them removed from her intestines.
Hope this helps.
