learn from the western and indian success stories...
first spend a good amount of time and money on a good script... then rope in the right director... for the kind of script you hav e selected.. comedies and con man movies are hot selling now....
most important thing now is casting and the music director and the rest of the team......
a proper mix of all these will take you everywhere successfully... as indian movies are masala mixed with songs and comedy also

if the answer to this question would have been known to anyone he would have been a biggest and richest director ever. Even bigger than the hollywood directors. What I think is that you can never make a perfect movie, because it is the audience that make it a hit a blockbuster or a flop. And you never know which audience will like what. So probably a movie, that can touch the souls of normal people will be a hit. on the other hand if you just think of making of successful movie then world will never know what is going in the other fields which are of less interest to people, which is depicted in most of the movies. I mean we have to make movies on all the subjects, which are of less interest to people. I mean they are equally important. But otherwise if you want to know how can you make your movie less ridiculous, then just try to be original in many things like story, songs etc. Try to be logical, there should be a meaning to what you are trying to convey through your movie. take a sensitive cast, I mean in most of the hindi movies today the actors are really ridiculous, I mean they don't even know how to act and still because of their face value they are taken. but that doesn't help a movie, I guess even you will agree to this. there are so many subjects, stories in our indian literature to be discovered and they are willing to be known to the world, don't try to copy a foreign movie. I hate this thing the most. I mean every time if I am paying to see a dubbed english movie with a cheaper hindi version I will directly watch an english movie. Why to pay for a better than nothing, sheety movie. We can excel but just have to give some extra efforts. Finally you can learn from success of other hindi movies like lagaan, rang de basanti, dhoom, dil chahta hai etc.

Bring in the perfect people for various jobs for the completion of the movie and they'll put in the excellence in their respective fields.

I know you're asking this because you want to do it but for that you must make a layout of all the things you require, somebody to sponsor or fund you, a n experienced director, good stage actors which are affordable and other unit such as for action stunts, costumes, dialogues etc. This would be out of your reach as first you got to assist somebody who's done all this before and then you have to take your chances. Before making a film it's also vital to have contacts with the important people in the showbiz.

Most importantly, you need a very good, unique and affordable plot for the story and a very good person to write the script.

This is the reality of filming something. If you have all the fields covered then go ahead, best of luck and give me a copy of your movie.

A perfect movie is made by Peter Jackson's directing:)It is true.I'll never watch such a perfect movie as Lord of the rings(Shame he is not directing the Hobbit).

I disagree with Candace, obviously, she's someone who doesnt understand what a great film is and what it takes to make a great film. I think you can make the perfect movie, you just need originality and patience. I also think that music helps to make for a great film.
