As you mentioned, he's generally very nice, so this means you have some sort of relationship with him already. If he's aware of your new arrival you should chat to him and mention that there may be some noise on your part.
This means that if his radio does keep baby awake you have at least made the first move in communication and shown that you are aware of his rights to have some peace and quiet. You're just asking for the same in return.
Don't forget that he's probably hard of hearing and so that's why he's got the radio up in the first place!

I agree with Missluly...
The more your baby can sleep through the better, and Im sure if the baby gets used to the background noise it'll be eaiser to do things around the house or have company over. My cousin has a little 1 year old and that kid can sleep through a room full of adults chatting eachother up. The noise actually comforts him to sleep so I would think that they more the baby can sleep through the more he is used to the better. And also like Missluly said youll prolly be wanting to do housework while the baby is sleeping

I know exactly how you feel! My girl is 15 months old, at the teething stage and isn't sleeping well. Our house if fairly new and the walls are like paper. Next door tend to play their music so loud we can hear it word perfect. Not only does this annoy the hell out of me it's also very inconsiderate as they know we have a young child. I've asked for the music to be turned down and so far so good, hopefully your neighbour will be more considerate than mine! Good luck x

Does he play it all the time? It could be he doesn't play it when you need to put your baby down for sleeping. Babies will need to get used to some background noise (you will be doing housework while baby sleeps).
If you find it does disturb your baby, then you should approach your neighbour. It could be they don't realise how noisy they are or you could suggest the radio is put in another room (not the one next to your nursery)

Your baby won't even notice - they sleep through anything. It's a good idea not to be too quiet around babies when they are asleep though as they get used to the quiet and can awaken easily at the slightest noise if that's whay they are used to.
However, I would mention it to your neighbour, in a jokey, friendly sort of way, because he may not even realise you can hear it, and could be mortified if he's disturbing you.
Good luck for the baby!

I would go and have a word I am sure he will be understanding. My very unreasonable neighbour was even kind enough to turn it down for my son.

Yes ask him to turn it down or possibly relocate the radio, I'm sure he'll understand and respect your wishes.

If he has a problem with it, when he's listening to your screaming brat all night, he'll probably become more willing to take the noise down.
But if he's a nice guy I'm sure he'll be willing to compromise anyway.
