I used to have a logitech quickcam chat and upgraded to a Logitech Quickcam pro 5000 I install software update it and when i plug in cam its not seen and either computer locks up or restarts any ideas. it has a mic on it could there be a conflict with mic on head phones (its unplugged at the moment. My old cam worked fine but the newer and more expensives ones don't work.I tried a microsoft lifecam VX-6000 wiht the same results so returned and got the logitech one

A good rule of thumb is to always reboot your computer after installing a new program whether it's off of a website or a disk. If that still doesn't help, go to the products website and update your drivers for that particular model.

did you uninstall the old cam software have your sound card drivers install as well when you install your Logitech Quickcam pro 5000 software dont have the cam usb connected too your pc untill ask do do so

Look for updated drivers on the Logitech website,
Or un-install the drivers and let Windows try to run it.

Maybe your USB port is usb 1 , so try your webcam on another usb port on your computer and another computer . if it worked correctly you'd better buy a PCI-USB 2 Card .
if your problem still continues , update your driver from internet .
