I know it can be very daunting making the first move but hey, go and find out if there is a toddlers group for mums and babies. Just pop in your local library for information..
Try it you will find people interested in your baby and will probably make some life time friends..
Chat to other mums when out shopping about being a new mum, and not knowing many people around in a similar situation.
Get out and about..that is the way to meet new people even if it is chilly outside.
Summer time is perfect..feeding the ducks and we all love that feeling of sunshine and seeing kids enjoy themselves.
I have recently moved to a new area and joined a French class and have made a new friend. We have been out twice and she has shown me around some places.
Take care and don't get down, be positive xx

Hello - Depending what State you are from, you can go to the local Government Child Health Centre or Baby Clinic and ask them for groups in the area for new mums. Otherwise look in your local paper in the classifieds and there is usually a listing for community groups. Also, Local council can be a source of information on various community groups in the area too! Don't leave it too long because it is much nicer to have other mums to chat to and talk about everyone's experiences. You really need that type of relief from the challenge of being at home with a baby and also the social contact. Sounds like you may be looking for the moral and social support that you can only get from other new Mum's in the same boat. It is a good idea to chase this up when bub is little too. Don't leave it too long. These groups can be just fantastic and you can make friends that last for years. Cheers

Are you in the UK? As well as mother and baby groups, which are often linked to local churches (you dont have to be a church goer), you could also try the local branch of the NCT (National Childbirth Trust). They have a policy to be friendly to new mums. Just google the name and contact HQ if you can't find out where your nearest local branch is. I made loads of super friends through the NCT.

Why dont you joina mother and baby group? You can get loads of informaiton on them from your doctor or health visitor. They are great groups where all the parents sit around drinking coffee and exchanging parenting tips! You'll really enjoy it, expecially if you havent spoken to anyone for a while! HA! xx

Join the local toddler group and activities such as tumble tots and most community centres run swimming lessons for babies and parents.
