Yes, you need to pay for all the songs you want to download from Itunes. You could try Limewire for free music, but if you download that programme it will probably really slow your computer down.

Yes mate, you are doing it wrong. There are many ways to get songs for you ipod. Firstly, you can put all your cd's into itunes, and it will give you the option to import. Alternatively, you can download music from other websites. Some people illegally download music from peer to peer sites, such as limewire. You can borrow CD's from friends and import them, you can go to a friends and copy their itunes library onto a hard disc and put on your pc. All of these are illegal as it breaks copyright laws but i do know of alot of people who do it. Songs downloaded by friends from Itunes or other legal websites are password protected and unusable by you if you copy them from others unless they give you the password.
I find the cheapest legal way to get songs is to buy CD's in the sale or 2nd hand. It works out much cheaper than £7.90 per album (itunes) and you have the original CD as back up and the freedom to convert the digital files into any format you like, should you change your prefered music player

well yes , itunes have you over a barrel regards this method. but you can download into your itunes library all of your own cd's and also transfer from a different media player any music you have stored there. this will then transfer to your ipod when you connect it .
if i were you , i would go carefully so that you fully understand every step of music downlaods. read all the advice and instructions, but don't worry if you make a mistake as there is always a way to repair or get back any music lost . take it from me , i have been there. dave.

Yes you need to pay for iTunes music, but there is some good stuff available in the Podcast Department for free. Just use a program to split up the MP3 file into individual tracks.

No - you do not have to pay for your own music library.
Just transfer your stored music (i.e. from Windows Media Player) into your itunes folder and synchronise your iPod. If this is not in MP3 format it will convert automatically.
Yes - You only have to pay for music you download directly from the iTunes website

you're probably best paying for a yearly service, such as 360 pro share its around £34 a year and has all the tracks you will ever want to download. its a small price to pay for the amount you will download. have fun and happy new year xxx
