On a Windows box, the root drive is normally C:\ (not C:|) and %winroot% is C:\Windows

one thing that must be clear is that root is not a concept used in the windows operating system. It is used in linux and unix to specify the administrator folder with correspondence with the administrator user. it is the universal directory: "/"
if the machine name is awc05, then the root folder is "awc05/"
and the only one who has full righs in that folder is the root user.
