This question was formatted in this exact way, with no change and the answer was given on Channel 5 in the UK a few weeks ago.

There was no other detail between any of the numbers or lines, I recorded the complete quiz, screen grabbed the question, listened to hundreds of callers phone in what they thought the answer might be and at the end of the quiz, no one got the correct answer and Channel 5 gave the answer, exactly as I stated, with no further explanation. I have since heard that some Game Channels have been reprimanded for running scams, but have not heard that this specific quiz was one of them?

The answer is incorrect unless you mistyped the question...

I read it as 86 + 34 + 5 - 14 + 105 * 2

It is an order of operations question....

first do the multiplication, then the addition and subtraction...

therefore: 86 + 34 + 5 -14+105*2 = 86 + 34 + 5 - 14 + 210 = 321

There is information missing after the 34+5-14. It does not say if you divide, multiply, add, or subtract. Without this information it is impossible to find the correct answer. Good luck!
