In many jurisdictions, the law requires police and others to delete or destroy records of any fingerprints and/or DNA from people who have never been convicted of any crimes or there is no need for their fingerprints to be on file. (For example, lawyers are fingerprinted.)
The reality is different. Even though the police and the "system" may have no legal reason to keep such information, odds are they won't get rid of them even if they are ordered to by a court. There have been cases where innocent people's information was found to be on file despite laws to the contrary.
My guess is, the UK keeps everything permanently, even if they shouldn't or aren't permitted to. Remember the Guildford Five ("In The Name Of The Father", Gerry O'Connell)? "Innocent until proven guilty" is going the way of the dodo.

continuously and an afternoon. David Cameron says he desires to scrap the DNA data, yet don't think a be attentive to it. He and his gang are larger administration freaks than absolutely everyone else in uk politics; they only bypass on approximately freedom while what they actually mean is 'poverty for all'. good luck.

Good question, though to tell you the truth I have no idea how long they are on file, guess once the police have them on file they stay there forever, with this new DNA register they are setting up I guess were all going to have our prints on file soon, have a great new year.

depends on why they are "on file"
sometimes they will be on file for elimination purposes ie .....if your house has been burgled.
for a definite answer phone the non emergency line of your local police and ask....you dont even have to give your name as it is a general enquiry .
Good luck
