What is the area like? Is public transport a readily accessible thing? How long does it take to Get to Montreal itself from Pincourt? What it in pincourt itself?

I used to live in Pincourt. It's very nice and picturesque, with a halfway between suburb and small town feel. You've got all of your necessary grocery stores, small shops, etc. although for big malls, movie theatres, and other such entertainment you'll need to drive onto the island to Kirkland or Pointe Claire (15-20 min. by car). To be honest, Pincourt is much more white trash (and francophone) than the rest of the west island :)

As for transportation, there is a train that runs during rush hour that will get you into the city in one hour flat. Find the schedule here: http://www.amt.qc.ca/tc/train/horaires/index.asp?ligne=2

Outside of rush hour, the trains run very sporadically, and there is NO bus to get you to the city. It's a nightmare. You pretty much need to have a car, and then you'll be a 30 minute drive from downtown in traffic-free conditions, and god knows how long (give yourself and hour to an hour and a half) in traffic.

It's on the island of Ile-Perrot. I don't think there's much public tranport. There's a train station but the trains don't run often. You'd have maybe a two-kilometer walk to the bus. It's a half-hour drive or so to Montreal (more in traffic). IDK what if anything there is to do there, I think it's pretty much a bedroom community.
