Dandeli is a picturesque city set amidst the backdrop of the Western Ghats. There is a strong belief that the city is named as "Dandeli" after Dandelappa, a loyal servant of the Mirashi landlords who lost his life because of his loyalty. Even today, people are found worshipping him in temples.
Dandeli is a natural habitat for wildlife. Safaris in open jeeps into the Dandeli wildlife sanctuary accompanied by trained naturalists are the best way to view wildlife here. It is home to big cats such as tigers, leopards, and even black panthers, elephants, gaur, deer, antelopes, many kinds of reptiles and a rich variety of birds. It is also a perfect place for white water rafting. Of late, it has become a hot tousrist spot and attracts many local and foreign tourists all the year around. OM resorts is the very good one and you can stay there.
A adventure trek into the dense forest with expert guides you can follow trails, which leads all the way up to the peaks of nearby hills. The views from atop the hill are astounding with the panoramic view of backwaters of Supa Dam, misty mountains and greenery spread out for miles.
Dandeli is surrounded by natural, historic and religious spots in the form of River Kali, the caves of Kavla, Syntheri rocks, Ulvi temple, Sykes point, the Supa dam (a 2*50 MW hydro-electric power station) etc.
Owing to the expansion of tourism industry today, many jungle resorts and camps, and also nature camps have come up around the place catering to the needs of the tourists.
However, due to rapid expansion of the toursim industry there is a fear of losing the flora and fauna which in fact is the heart of this place. In order to create awareness among the people on these ill effects a small voluntary group "Save Dandeli" has informally started functioning.
The best season to visit this place is between October and May.-

Actually u can do both......1 night in Dandeli & 1 night on OM beach.(3 days & 2 nights).
They are about 150 Kms.
a)U can take a bus to Dandeli from Blore/Hubli/Belgaum.
b)Stay at Junglelodges.com at Dandeli.Dont miss white water rafting & jungle safari
c)Hire a cab at Dandeli & go to Om beach.On the way u get lots of places to see as mentioned by many of the folks.
d)There are buses from Om beach (Closest-Gokarna/Kumta/Sirsi) to Blore.

Dandeli is a place near Hubli. Its around 500 kms (overnight journey) from Bangalore. The place is amidst thick forest, on the banks of river Kali. Some of the activities you can undertake are whitewater rafting in river Kali, stay in the tent house of Jungle lodges, goto jungle safari etc.
Om beach is near Gokarna, which is also takes around 10 hours by bus from Bangalore. There are many beaches near Om beach. You can reach Om beach by road or in a ferry from Gokarna.
If you love forest, greenery, adventure etc, then Dandeli would be the place to visit. If you want to spend time in beach, pick Om beach. You can also opt for Devbagh beach, which is near Karwar. See the jungle lodges website for more details.

i would always prefer om beach to dandeli. i do not condemn dandeli, it has beautiful green valleysbut i prefer playing in clean, lonely waters, got it.

Yes.dandeli is just town with major road link.its just centre hub of innumerable picturistiq places with km radiudradkm
