If you agree that the two major parties are just two heads of the same snake, and believe as I do, that they are both controlled at the top by the same interests, the answer is yes.

I think the common factor is the number of members of the Council on Foreign Relations at the top of both major parties. This organization of about 3500 individuals has controlled our foreign policy since WW2. It was instrumental in the creation of the UN.

The goal of the CFR is world government. They are opposed to the idea of national sovereignty. This explains the federal governments refusal to deal with illegal immigrants, the adoption of NAFTA, GATT and the current administration's effort to create the North American Union (US, Canada & Mexico).

I hope that as people realize that neither major party reflects their views, they will support a party that does.

With this current voting system, the reasons for voting for third parties remain limited. The existing reasons have already been mentioned by others above me. However, if we truly want to see a difference in the way our government works, we need to implement instant runoff voting and proportional representation on the national level. This eliminates the "spoiler effect" evident in the 2000 presidential elections and also encourages voters to not only vote but to vote for candidates that they agree with. It will also eliminate negative campaigning (aka. lesser of two evils strategy) but will save taxpayers millions of dollars.
