just moved from CA bay area to Columbia SC. the cost of living is very affordable and Columbia is close to the university and many different mediacl facilites. very homey. neighbors are nice. available but not in your face. I have lived in DC then CA and now SC and really people are the same all over. it just depends on what you are looking for.
