Alot of people will be pissed at me, but someone from the UK possibly could be unaware of political correctness here. The ask-er may have no idea of how "negro" is offensive when we described ourselves that way 30-40 years ago. Just something to consider, and I hope I'm right.

It was undoubtedly a shock to hear about the brother's home going. I only hope we learned something from his influence and he won't be remembered 10 years from now for his arrests only. James Brown was the first vocalist to sing a song like "Say It Loud!" That took alot of courage back when that song was made. Solid, James...we love you.

The "Black" American community is probably more shocked by the use of the word NEGRO. Why use that word to describe a community that has fought so hard to distance itself from such a derogartory word.

I'm white, and I'm shocked. James Brown was cool. I watched The Blues Brothers just the other day...

(BTW, I don't think you're supposed to say "negro" anymore.)

Is the White American community shocked by the death of Gerald Ford? Maybe more so than they were when Nixon died.
