purification of silver containing zinc , copper , gold using electrolysis

The impure silver is made the anode while a thin sheet of pure silver acts as cathode.
The electrolytic tank contains a solution o silver nitrate acidified with 1% nitric acid
On passing electricity , pure silver gets deposited at the cathode

at anode : Ag ---------> Ag+ + e-

at cathode : Ag+ + e- ---------> Ag

Zinc , Copper pass into the solution as soluble salts
Gold collects under the anode as anode mud
