on an AMI mother board ,where can i find the chip that controls the keyboard?

i would like to check if it needs reseating or clean up. my pc has start up problems and beeps unless the ps/2 keyboard is disconnected. using another ps/2 keyboard did not solve the problem. using a usb keyboard might help but i would like to find root of problem.

That would be the southbridge chipset...maybe?

are you using 56K or Caleb coz i had that same thing happen and it was where my network card was not hook in right i had to reinstall it
