Kimba the White Lion (Japanese: ジャングル大帝/Janguru Taitei "Jungle Emperor") is a Japanese animated series from the 1960s, created by Osamu Tezuka, based on his manga of the same title which started in 1950. It was the first color TV animation series created in Japan. The entire series of manga was first published in serialized form in Manga Shonen magazine.

Kimba was born of wild parents but he also lived with people for some time while he was a cub. When he returned to the wild, he had a dream of uniting people and animals in peaceful co-existence.

What I try to say through my works is simple:
"Love all creatures! Love everything that has life!"
--Osamu Tezuka, creator of Kimba

In fiction/pop culture? Kane from *Kung Fu*.

In folklore? Robin Hood.

In life? Gandhi, King, or Mandela. Or Mo-Ti, the philosopher-swordsman-champion of underdogs-pacifist warrior of ancient China, who, by the way, if you like Zorro, you should read about, as he was the *original* Zorro.
