Just listen to the pharmacist and doctor they know best, i mean taking some medicines isnt exactly great when pregnant but most women dont know they are pregnant until they are 2-3 month, so this happens a lot.

I didnt find out I was pregnant until i was 11 weeks, and I had been drinking heavily 2 weekends and taking pain killers among others. I was checked out and spoke to the dr who said that everything looked well and noy to panic, as this will stress out the baby,

I am now 21 weeks and everything is going fine.

Good Luck and try not to stress out the baby.

Congratulations!!!!!

Your doctor and pharmacist know you and the drugs mentioned the best. They are the only people qualified to answer that question. If they both agree that it is fine for you then I would not worry. You will be fine. Tylenol with codeine is prescribed to pregnant patients with severe pain anyway, and if they say the penicillin is fine then take thier word for it. Pharmacists go to school for 8 years just to study medications and the effects so believe me they know what they are talking about.

You've consulted both a doctor and a pharmacist. If you're still concerned, consult your Ob-Gyn, but, I feel the advice would be the same. Keep in close tabs with the Doctor, and you should be OK. Consider this--you could have had it much worse, with a tooth infection becoming septicemic, that could have had dire, if not fatal, consequences. You did the right thing. Good Luck with your baby!

If your doctor & pharmacist feel everything is okay, then relax a little. If you used the medication as you were instructed everything should be okay. If you had not taken any action about your tooth infection, than you may have something to worry about the baby being affected.

Sometimes you just have to have a little faith and trust in the professionals in the medical field to know the answer. I'd believe your doctor and pharmacist are telling you the truth in this case and just be careful through the rest of the pregnancy.

Good luck with that baby, sounds like he/she has a great, caring mother to be.

I had to take tylenol with codeine for migraine during pregnancy and had no problems from it. There's a website called safefetus.com where you can look up medications and their possible effects on pregnancy. Your doctor and your pharmacist do know what they're talking about, though.

Take the advice of your doctors. This is a serious suitation that should only be answered by a healthcare professional who is able to monitor you and your child.

I know many women have taken strong prescription drugs before realizing that they were even pregnant and everything has turned out okay. There have been some selfish women who have taken alcohol and drugs knowing they were pregnant and by the grace of god, their child turned out fine also.

In your case, you found out you you were pregnant, you stopped taking the medication and your doctor told you not to worry. Try not to worry and focus on the rest of your pregnancy.

"Acetaminophen (commonly sold as Tylenol), has been linked to an increased risk for gastroschisis in a number of studies.
Gastroschisis is a birth defect in which an infant's intestines stick out of the body through a defect on one side of the umbilical cord.
Gastroschisis is a type of hernia. Hernia means "rupture.” Babies with this condition have a hole in the abdominal wall, usually on the right side of the umbilical cord. The child's intestines can be easily seen.

Gastroschisis, which occurs in only one out of 10,000 live births, can be repaired but requires surgery, usually right after birth. Ibuprofen and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have been linked to the premature closure of the fetal ductus when used in the third trimester. More studies are in the works."

codeine and penicillin are safe in ALL stages of pregnancy. If taking the drugs still scares you, consider the damage that a mother's untreated pain and infection can cause the fetus. Now take your pills and stop worrying.
