I live in Dubai so i can only give you information about this city. Its a nice place to visit and there are many attractions and sight seeings you will enjoy. Il start with renting a car to drive around. A Toyota Corolla would start rom 100 dhs for 24 hours but it depends on the company you rent the car from. You find cheaper ones (local) instead of the big knows ones such as Avis, Hertz and Budget. You could get yourself a map to find your place around in Dubai to vist the best shopping malls otherwise taxi's are really cheap. A drive around the city would cost you 25DHS(5US$) in a taxi. Dubai has many excellent restaurants and affordable actually some are really cheap. The best ones could be the Iranian kababs such as Hatam, Tehran or Daniel for buffet or the lebanese restaurants such as Beirut and Automatic restaurant.

The best shopping malls would be:

The Emirates Mall (Ice Ski)
Ibn Battutta (different themes)
Mercato (antique decoration)
City Center (famous of all)

Accomdations such as fully furnished apartments would start from 600 dirhams to thousands depending on your request and location. Hotels are offered but sometimes fully booked so try to book one in advance to avoid problems upon arrival. A 4-5 star would start from 800Dhs.
Some hotels i would recommend are:
Hayat regency
Ramada Intercontinental
Intercontinental Hotel Dubai
Radission
JW Marriot

Places to check around:
Jumeirah Beach
Wild Wadi amusement park
Burj Al Arab (If you can afford)
Creek Park
Global Village ( Dubai shopping festival is held at the global village the biggest enjoyment of dubai for fun and shopping. Its on from the 20th Dec till 15 Jan.)
Water taxis (ABRA)
Gold Souk
Spice Souk

Thats all i can think of, if you need more information or help you can email me. Happy Holiday!

I hope all goes well in your travels....
If you should find yourself in the Middle East at this time, go to your nations Consulate Office,(if they are still there)...and do what is necessary to expeditiously get back home. It doesn't seem as if your receiving any Hazardous Duty pay, and that you just want to visit....The instability of the governments, people, and overall atmosphere, is not condusive to a care free fun time. Respect is non existent..The Middle East is not a 'Bastian of Brotherhood' right now.
But......... if your determined to do this.....
Call a travel agent, they can help with you with information regarding all the fun tourist attractions, and probably advise on the proper forms IE: visas, purpose of travel, how long you will stay..and oh yeah...who to notify in case of kidnapping, death, hostile takeover, and some of the other 'attractions' that seem to fit the bill today.
