Nazi Germany. The republican party.
Communism is a economic philosophy not a political one. In true communism the people (citizens) of a country take over the industry of that Nation and distribute the gross national product of that nation equally according to need and contribution. True communism could only work in a democracy.

Generaly, nobody did.

The closest thing to "Opposition" was Hitler. He decided to invade the Soviet Union in mid 1941. In response we Supported the Comunist country with our industry as well did England, the Soviet Union was able to hold out due to it's harsh winters and put the Western aid to good use beating back the Nazi's.

At the time, it was not communism that was freaking people out, but the Genocide that was happening in Europe. Well, that and an attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941...

There were several prominent groups that stood against Communism. The National Socialist Party was committed to stopping them in Germany, and in America as well as Britain.

American and British forces fought the early Bolsheviks in Murmansk in 1919 on the side of the 'White Russians'. Winston Churchill himself served in that campaign and Joseph Stalin never forgave him.

Nobody, Russia was with us. One of the Nazis mistakes was going in and attacking Russia and trying to press them out. It proved fatal. After the war Russia had alot to do with rounding up the Nazis. And they even got some of their scientist. If you start reading of events post ww2 you'll see Joseph Stalin set alot of stuff in motion. Ideas and such that became the root of the Russian type communism we all came to hate. It appears after WW2 the then Soviet Union became rivals with the free world thus launching the cold war and the US with other allies opposing them...

If you haven't seen the movie Behind Enemy Lines you ought to see it. It is historically accurate but slightly dramatized to make a movie. I enjoyed it.

Nazis, facists opposed them. Majority of Americans also oppose the idealogy. There are communist states like Cuba, China and North Korea. China is doing very well for itself.
