I know that it will not affect my performance and i also know about the virtual memory and stuff like that , I just want my PC to display as it was having 256 MB of RAM, ( I earlier had a software that would allow some part of my hard disk to use as RAM (and my PC displayed that it was having 4 GB of RAM , Ya as u know that my performance was not increased but then my software started to run which otherwise displayed a dialog box stating that it requires minimum 256 MB of RAM , so can u pls tell me any software like that? (also i don't want any info on pagefile or virtual memory)

"that will increase amount of RAM by using some part of my Hard Disk's Memory as RAM" means it will use the 'Page File'
or the 'Virtual Memory' considering it as RAM. What it basically does is allot some space on your Hard Drive so as to be used as RAM. You have 256MB of RAM then you will have to keep the page file ( page file and virtual memory are one and the same) to at least 128 MB of your Hard Drive space. You can specify the page file by right-clicking on
My Computer>Properties>Advanced
and under Performance click settings and choose the size. It won't show this size under the specs though because it is different than RAM. Also virtual memory is slower to access than RAM.

this will work for now but i suggest you go out and get some more ram its cheep enough and its faster the virtual memory

Start> Settings> Control Panel> System>

Then Click on "Advanced"

Then Click on the Tab that says "Settings"

Then Click on the Tab that says "Advanced"

You will notice near the bottom that there is a "Virtual Memory" Box that contains a "Change" Button". Click that button.

Make sure that C: Drive is highlighted (it should be already), Go down to the button and click on "Custom Size" and put the initial size at 256 and the Max size at 1536 MB.

Once you put in the new numbers, click all of the "Apply" and "OK" buttons until the windows go away.

You will get a message stating that you will need to restart the system. You can restart then, or wait until later.

No Ram is Random get admission to memory and is used up via the OS and application put in on the OS. via final all pointless classes, the memory would be reapplied to the OS, providing you with greater memory to apply. the main suitable thank you to handle that's to easily bypass out and purchase greater Ram. Get 2 2GB sticks and you will be good. it somewhat is going to cost approximately $70. you additionally can get 2 1GB sticks for much less. And, in the experience that your computer takes place to have in basic terms one slot, in basic terms get a single stick of two or 4GB Ram.

.
The best option is to upgrade your RAM. Get additional RAM for your computer.

Even if you increase the size of virtual memory or any other things, you cant get solved with your problem, coz Hard Disk could not work faster as RAM.

Close all applications and try.
Hard disk cannot share as RAM.
Right click on your My computer Icon on desktop and go to system properties for checking RAM.
Control+Alt+Del and go to task manager > process and performances to know the details of RAM used.
