Terrorism is a term used to describe violence or other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against those considered innocents by groups or persons for political, nationalist, or religious goals. As a type of unconventional warfare, terrorism means to weaken or supplant existing political landscapes through capitulation, acquiescence, or radicalization, as opposed to subversion or direct military action.

"Terrorist attacks" usually are characterized as "indiscriminate", the "targeting of civilians", or as executed "with disregard for human life". The term "terrorism" often is used to assert that the enemy's political violence is immoral, wanton, and unjustified. Per the most common definition of terrorism — typically used by states, academics, counter-terrorism experts, and civil, non-governmental organizations —, "terrorists" are actors who do not belong to any recognized armed forces or who don't abide the laws of war, and who, therefore, are regarded as "rogue actors".

Those labelled "terrorists" rarely identify themselves so and, instead, typically use terms referring to their ideological or ethnic struggle, such as: separatist, freedom fighter, liberator, revolutionary, vigilante, militant, paramilitary, guerrilla, rebel, jihadi or mujaheddin, or fedayeen, or any similar-meaning word in other languages.

Terrorism has been used by a broad array of political organizations in furthering their objectives; both right-wing and left-wing political parties, nationalistic, and religious groups, revolutionaries and ruling governments.[1]

Some persons and governments believe that the term "Terrorism", as defined in dictionaries, now has a negative connotation, under the theory that a person who attacks the civilian population is, instead, a militant, regardless of the status of the victims of terrorism.

to terror, "extreme fear and shock, to be shocked so badly that you can feel the trembling of your bones" How is that for terror?
To terrorize is to taunt and cause extreme mental anquish with fear and threats of violence that you are really criminal. It is terrorizing to have a bomb blown off at your house. But that does not mean it was a terrorist that threw the bomb. It just may mean that someone started a war between your people and someone else. So in fact that is an act of war. However some people do not know the difference because they take the statement to a very low life level,"All is fair in Love and War", because of that statement they think it is okay to strap a back pack on and go into a restaurant with innocent people and blow everyone up including themselves. That is called unfair, and cruel and inhumane, and terroristic acts. The Geneva Convention and treaty prohibits such things during War, but they did it in Viet Nam, little children were loaded down with granades and walked into a group of soldiers. Women with babies did the same thing to our soldiers. So tell me something? Do you understand terrorism now? The person that forced the women and children who were the communists, to walk into our soldiers and blow them up at their own sacrifice, do you think that those people were cowards? Bingo yes you are right they were cowards. A terrorist is a coward and a bully, at the same time. He would send in other people in an unfair way to die and make others die in his stead. Like Bin Ladin, or Sadaam Hussein or the Pres. of Iran or Iraq, or the Hezbollah the Viet Cong, THe KGB Russia, Pres Prukin of Russia, There are a whole bunch of them but they get the ignorant followers to do their dirty work , like the palestineans. Same animal, no different. Who in America does that stuff? Come on we dont do that we dont go into a grocery store and blow it up for some stupid cause, that is insane. So the definition is a violent insane bully who is a coward that uses force and weapons below the standards of any waged war. They are not at war, they are terrorists. Instigators of these people are people are people that have an alterior motive that is selfish, like Arafat, he got rich didnt he? Bin Ladin is rich isnt he? Qadfi is rich, Sadaam Hussein was rich now he is soon to be dead and money wont help him where he is going.

Few words are as politically or emotionally charged as terrorism. A 1988 study by the US Army[1] counted 109 definitions of terrorism that covered a total of 22 different definitional elements. Terrorism expert Walter Laqueur in 1999 also has counted over 100 definitions and concludes that the "only general characteristic generally agreed upon is that terrorism involves violence and the threat of violence". For this and for political reasons, many news sources avoid using this term, opting instead for less accusatory words like "bombers", "militants", etc.

Terrorism is a crime in many countries and is defined by statute (see below for particular definitions). Common principles amongst legal definitions of terrorism provide an emerging consensus as to meaning and also foster cooperation between law enforcement personnel in different countries.

Among these definitions, several do not recognize the possibility of the legitimate use of violence by civilians against an invader in an occupied country, and would thus label all resistance movements as terrorist groups. Others make a distinction between lawful and unlawful use of violence[2]. Russia for example includes in their terrorist list only those organizations which represent the greatest threat to their own security.[3] Ultimately, the distinction is a political judgment.

It has also been argued that the political use of violent force and weapons that deliberately target or involve civilians, and do not focus mainly on military or government targets, is a common militant, terrorist, or guerilla tactic, and a main defining feature of these kinds of criminals. Most governments and "legitimate" military leaders do not openly attempt to use civilians as shields or aim at them during times of political conflict. Whereas the definition of a terrorist can specify that a militant or a militant group has the criminal intent, planning, and actions to violently use civilian targets and civilian shields for political and economic ends.

As terrorism ultimately involves the use or threat of violence with the aim of creating fear not only to the victims but among a wide audience, it is fear which distinguishes terrorism from both conventional and guerrilla warfare. While both conventional military forces may engage in psychological warfare and guerrilla forces may engage on acts of terror and other forms of propaganda, they both aim at military victory. Terrorism on the other hand aims to achieve political or other goals, when direct military victory is not possible. This has resulted in some social scientists referring to guerrilla warfare as the "weapon of the weak" and terrorism as the "weapon of the weakest".[4]

Terrorism starts where reasoning ends. It is a conspiracy to get things at the point of gun. But it has no real meaning. Today terrorist tomarrow may become patriot. It involves creating fear among rulers or people by taking law into their hands.

Acts of violence committed by groups that view themselves as victimized by some notable historical wrong. Although these groups have no formal connection with governments, they usually have the financial and moral backing of sympathetic governments. Typically, they stage unexpected attacks on civilian targets, including embassies and airliners, with the aim of sowing fear and confusion. Israel has been a frequent target of terrorism, but the United States has increasingly become its main target.

Terrorism is an evil which spread very quickly all around the world. its like poisn for humanity. But if we examine the reason of terrorism we will know its worst meanings. today we can see that super power is using it as a weapon against poor humanity and it is very easy for them to call once terrorist and kill him. if Palistanin young boys are terrorist because they are throwing stons on israiles soldiers, iraqies are terrorists coz they are defending there country agaist foreign invation. But killing thousands of humans with bombs and clusterd misile are still peace keepers.. so there is no definition of terrorism ritght now.

Y've just put all your kids on the school bus. Yr brother is talking to the bus driver. You decide that you need a coffee - so you go down the street to the nearest place (which just happens to be outside of the nearest shopping centre); before you know it the bus explodes! Then whilst you are looking at that - the shop nearest you explodes too. There's carnage everywhere. You look around & realise that most of your family just got blown up (for no reason at all) and that you are alive to know it. Welcome to TERRORISM!!!!!
