BUT, be prepared to answer any of his questions and make sure he's singing the correct lyrics. At his age, it's EASY for him to get the "wrong idea" of things.

Metal is good for babies and small children! Just don't make it too loud for his little ears. And give him a variety of music to listen to as well.
Also, Linkin park != metal. At all. Not even a little bit. Sorry, just had to point that out. :)

Metal is good genre, encourage him to more 70s/80s metal bands, you got one there, Iron Maiden
Dont forget Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, Van Halen etc.

depends on what the msg of the tune your letting him listen to is, if its a tune that you think is inappropriate. dont, but metal is good music, teach him to listen to the rhythm and riffs of the music, not the words. how does the music effect you?
