Bright Eyes is the greatest band of all time. The songs consist of rough, catchy riffs in a folk style. The lyrics are so profoundly genius that everytime a song is heard, a new meaning is discovered. Having produced 7 cds on Saddle Creek (a few of which recorded in various Garages) and 2 on Sony, each CD is a new and interesting chapter created by the prodigy front man Conor Oberst. The band, founded by Conor, is the epitome of a realized dream. Oberst was kicked out of several bands as a young teenager before finding success with his current line up.
The songs span meaning and often verbalize a search for internal meaning, for self-realization and pain. However, there are many songs that seem to be about friendship and overcoming. Mostly, the songs convey a general message of knowing how finite our lives are and that we shouldn't take things so damn seriously.
Bright Eyes were also on teh fore front of the 2004 "Vote for Change" campaign, the message was heard but the campaign appeared to fail up until the 2006 elections. Also in 2004 the band had two singles, "Lua" and "Take It Easy (love Nothing)" , reach the two top spots on Billboards hot 100 list. The band openly protests Clear Channel media companies and has even canceled shows at venues associated with the cimpany. The band has been given awards from both PLUG Independant Music Awards as well as recognition at the GLAAD media awards.
They are truly and amazing band that occupies not only my CD player, but many other anxious, scared, sad and growing people's.
Thanks!
Heather

KISS is my favorite. The Beatles, The Stones, and The Who should all be credited for staying power. The Stones and The Who are still touring, as is Kiss, although not all the members are the same. In a strange coincidence, all 4 bands have dead ex-members. Without the Beatles, lots of bands wouldn't exist. Oasis and Blur both are almost carbon copies. Bands ranging from Kiss, Blind Faith, and even Ozzy have credited the Beatles with inspiring them to get into music.

Greatest band of all time- The Misfits 1977-83.
They defined a brand of punk rock that incorporated horror and glamor along with dramatic vocals and the classic 50s style that a lot of early era punk bands had.
Danzig is the man.

The Beatles.... they started a cultural revolution. But I'd have to say, as a modern-era band, U2 has really made a worldwide impact not only in music but also on humanitarian levels.
