It depends where you are in your life, past experiences, your level of muturity. It takes years before you can step back from a relationship and evaluate it but more importantly evaluate yourself. Which is the most important aspect of being in relationships is knowing ones self. And putting a relationship on hold is just one way of saying, you are not the one for me.

Love is not a telephone call that can be put "on hold".
Well, maybe it can for a couple of days, but not to "move on" with the next candidate. That really sounds odd.
If there is no will in resolving those issues, it's better to "hang up".

That's really interesting that you bring this up. The same thing has recently happen to me. At first I was thinking it's a sign that my girlfriend was trying to hook up with other guys. I thought she might be doing the whole Myspace thing behind my back. Well I started to think more and I came to the conclusion it was far the better. I found out she was doing the Myspace thing. So I am glad she moved on even thought it hurt me. I am glad I found out now then having to see her in bed with another guy!

Who are you to put someone else's love on hold? -Just because YOU'RE stuck, doesn't give you the right to make someone else wait for you. Love's much more busy than that.

I was going to say that I've never been able to achieve hold status. Turn around - poof - and they're gone.
